NeuronicWorks' 2020: Year in review
2020 has been a year unlike any other. As this extraordinary year comes to a close, we reflect on all the accomplishments and successes we achieved together as a company in 2020. While it has been a challenging year in many ways, NeuronicWorks leaves 2020 stronger than when we started. This is a testament to our hard working, resilient team and to the wonderful relationships we have with you, our partners, and clients.
NeuronicWords
At the beginning of this year, we launched our first-ever monthly electronic design newsletter, NeuronicWords. Our focus is to share with you: the latest company updates, technology trends, design insights, event information and exclusive interviews with industry experts. Regardless of 2020’s challenges, we issued 11 letters filled with novel information, keeping our readers up to date.
Then...Coronavirus struck
One of the greatest challenges our team faced this year was shifting to a virtual format. Like all other businesses, NeuronicWorks had to quickly adapt to a remote style, while upholding our quality and standards. NWI thrives on a collaborative nature and hands-on team environment, and during the remote work phase, with some trial and errors, our team rose above the challenges and pushed through.
To coordinate and streamline all our actions, we set up an internal Situation Management Team to identify, communicate, and manage evolving risks posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. We were able to safely return to the office as early as June, while maintaining well-defined social distancing norms.
Our New HQ Office
Making the move to a larger 40,000 sq ft. office was the next step for our team and with great pride we opened our new doors in September 2020. Today, 210 Lesmill is our new Headquarters and home.
The new space allows us to grow our design team and become vertically integrated, we can add a slew of additional services including an SMT assembly line, conformal coating shop, environmental testing lab, mechanical prototyping shop, automated board testing and FW loading, agile light assembly, and warehousing space.
We are currently renovating the tower area of the building where our office space will ultimately be, while our team works full steam ahead from a temporary workspace at the back of the building. This large space helps our team meet social distancing requirements while also allowing for in-person collaboration on projects.
New Office in Kitchener-Waterloo
In other office related news, we are thrilled to announce that our new satellite office in Kitchener-Waterloo is now open for business! Our new office is located in the Catalyst137 hub in downtown Kitchener. Starting off the project in August 2020, we were able to design and build our space in less than four months.
This new branch office positions NeuronicWorks at both ends of the Toronto-Waterloo Tech Corridor, the largest innovative cluster in North America, beside Silicon Valley.
Partners
We have had the opportunity, pleasure, and honor in 2020 to partner with some of the greatest industry leaders. We’re proud to add Avnet, Innophase, Onion and Mouser Electronics to our growing list of industry partners.
Team
Our success this year has meant that the team has also continued to grow. Standing at 49 designers and engineers at the end of 2020, we look forward to growing our family of Neurons in the coming year.
We have updated our company’s structure in order to better position ourselves for the next growth cycles as we continue to evolve as a team. Simona and Titu Botos, co-founders of NeuronicWorks, assumed their new roles of COO and CEO, respectively. New additions to the executive team: Alexander Hasmany was promoted to the Director of Business Development position and Eugene Krimnuz was appointed Director of Operations.
Here is a visual that represents some of our achievements in numbers:
As with everyone around the globe, we look forward to 2021 with anticipation, and aspiration. We look forward to the day where things go back to normal, until then, we hope our friends and families stay safe and healthy. We know the world will recover.
We wish all our clients, partners, suppliers and supporters good health, success, and prosperity in 2021. We welcome you to come visit us at our new office, we would love to give you a walk through of our new and improved facility, just give us a call!
